Wet and windy run

I typically run first thing in the morning before my brain wakes up to try and convince me that running is a bad idea. Even that little trick struggles on mornings like today – when the alarm went off at 6.20am and I could hear the cars on Lake Shore Drive splashing through puddles I knew it was going to be a wet one.
Running in the rain wouldn't be so bad if I had a waterproof cover for my iPod mini but at present, I don't so it always means I have to run without music. It was only 3 miles today but 10 miles without music or any other distractions can be a challenge when you aren't in the mood. When I went outside it wasn't so bad and most of the heavy rain had passed so I didn't get too wet but it was windy and that makes it harder.
My pace was good today at 24 minutes 01 second for the 3 miles and despite the lack of enthusiasm, I still felt good after the run was over and not too tired. I have been recovering from each run much quicker since I started eating McCann's Quick Cooking Oatmeal each morning. I'm not much of a breakfast person because I'm pretty lazy but I'm a sucker for oatmeal with brown sugar. Traditional oatmeal takes about 30 minutes so theres the rub. I don't like the instant uber processed stuff either but the McCann's quick cooking stuff only takes 1 minute 45 seconds in my microwave for 1/2 cup of oats and 1 cup of milk so I really have no excuse. The other thing I've noticed is that since I started eating that instead of the bagels I've been losing more weight which is nice :-)
