Catching up with Wesley Korir 3 Weeks Before Chicago

Elite runner Wesley Korir took first place in the Boston Marathon this year and second place at the Chicago Marathon last year. We got the chance to sit down with him and discuss what it was like growing up in Kenya, why he loves to run and all about his pre-race meal.

In 2008 Wesley Korir entered the Chicago Marathon as a regular runner, starting five minutes behind the elite group. He still finished with the fourth fastest time of the day, which then propelled his career into professional status.

Last Tuesday, we were invited by the Chicago Marathon committee to attend an event with Wesley Korir. We got to sit down with him and ask him our own questions, and also one from a WalkJogRun member. Wesley was very open and willing to talk with everyone at the event. Despite his elite runner status, he is very down to earth and easy to talk to. He even went for a short run with Chicago's World Vision Team.

In just two weeks, Wesley will be at the starting line of the Chicago Marathon. Wesley shared that his training has going very well this year. He also believes he is in the best shape of his life, so there's no reason to believe he'll do anything less than great this year.
